The commonly alloys for extruding magnesium bars, tubes and profiles and their mechanical properties are as follows:
• AZ61A - Medium strength alloy for extruding complex shapes requiring high strength at temperatures not exceeding 120˚C, good resistance to corrosion.
• AZ31B - standard magnesium extrusion alloy, offering a good combination of medium strength (up to 120˚C), It has good corrosion resistance as well as good extrudability for more complex shapes.
• AZ80 - strongest of the AZ alloy family, offering good strength at ambient or medium temperatures(up to 120˚C), good corrosion resistance and machinability can be obtained by forging and extruding.
• ZK60 – High strength magnesium alloys, good forgeability and achinability, mostly used for forging and machining.
• Other alloys can be considered on inquiry.
